HONOLULU, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujinon Inc. announced the launch of the first commercially available fully digital endoscope system with both FujiIntelligent Chromo Endoscopy (FICE) and high-resolution imaging. FICE is developed to mimic chromo-endoscopy without the use of messy, time-consuming and irreversible tissue staining dyes. It creates a similar effect electronically, enabling a physician to visually enhance suspect structures not visible under normal endoscopic conditions. FICE could assist the physician with taking targeted biopsies of suspect areas versus random biopsies. The company says that precision picture quality, when viewing the most obscure changes in living tissue, or subtle changes in mucosal detail, could result in a dramatic improvement in quality diagnosis and patient care.
The EPX-4400 consists of the VP-4400 Video Processor and XL-4400 Light Source and is compatible with the company's entire range of 400 Series endoscopes, providing virtually unlimited combinations of endoscopes with the endoscopy benefits of FICE and the ultimate in high-resolution imaging, the company says. Additionally, the EPX-4400 enhances the function of the Double Balloon Endoscopy (DBE), which permits both examination and therapeutic intervention throughout the entire small bowel.
