Tech Data U.S. Increases Vertical Market Focus With Expanding ISV Recruitment

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2006--Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ:TECD), a leading IT products distributor, has made it easier for IT resellers to develop document management solutions for small-to-midsized businesses (SMBs) and larger institutions in key vertical markets such as finance and healthcare. Tech Data today announced its Document Imaging Specialized Business Unit (SBU) has broadened its extensive imaging hardware and software offerings to include document management solutions from independent software vendors (ISVs) DocuLex Inc., iDatix Corp., and Questys Solutions.

According to market research firm Gartner Inc., document management solutions can "save workers time ... and increase user efficiency. (They) can also streamline business processes and decrease the risk associated with lost documents." For these reasons, Gartner suggests "small companies need document management just as much as large companies do."

Other document management drivers include legislation such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which mandate minimum requirements for data collection, security and retention for businesses and institutions in the finance and healthcare sectors.
