CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2006--Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ:TECD), a leading IT products distributor, has made it easier for IT resellers to develop document management solutions for small-to-midsized businesses (SMBs) and larger institutions in key vertical markets such as finance and healthcare. Tech Data today announced its Document Imaging Specialized Business Unit (SBU) has broadened its extensive imaging hardware and software offerings to include document management solutions from independent software vendors (ISVs) DocuLex Inc., iDatix Corp., and Questys Solutions.
"The addition of these ISVs is one way Tech Data's Document Imaging SBU helps our customers become increasingly solutions-oriented, particularly in the SMB market," said Wendy Linsky, vice president, Peripherals, Supplies & Accessories Product Marketing. "The latest imaging solutions now available to our customers offer the same functionality and process efficiencies that had traditionally been limited to enterprise-level applications. Now, savvy solution providers are leveraging our product offering to cost-effectively deploy these imaging solutions to their SMB accounts and provide end users with compelling cost savings and productivity gains."
According to market research firm Gartner Inc., document management solutions can "save workers time ... and increase user efficiency. (They) can also streamline business processes and decrease the risk associated with lost documents." For these reasons, Gartner suggests "small companies need document management just as much as large companies do."
Other document management drivers include legislation such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which mandate minimum requirements for data collection, security and retention for businesses and institutions in the finance and healthcare sectors.
"The key to our relationship with Tech Data is that they truly understand our needs as part of the technology channel," said Daniel Boon, director, Field Sales, for solutions provider GreenPages, Inc., in Kittery, Maine. "We cannot be experts at everything, and Tech Data realizes that. With the Document Imaging SBU, Tech Data offers end-to-end technical expertise and products for us to provide complete solutions to our clients."
