Sony to integrate 2 units to enhance production of LCD TV components

May 17--TOKYO -- Sony Corp. said Wednesday it will integrate two of its units in Japan on July 1 to enhance development and production of functional films and other components for liquid crystal display televisions.
Sony Chemicals Corp. in Tokyo and Sony Miyagi Corp. in Tagajo, Miyagi Prefecture will be consolidated into Sony Chemical & Information Device Corp.
Sony Chemicals has so far produced LCD panel films, industrial adhesives and other chemical components, while Sony Miyagi has manufactured such products as magnetic tapes and discs.
