PLYMOUTH, Mich. and HAMBURG, Germany, March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ROFIN-SINAR Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: RSTI), one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high-performance laser beam sources and laser- based solutions, today announced that it has acquired a 40% stake of H2B Photonics GmbH, Garbsen, Germany. Further terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
H2B Photonics GmbH specialize in the development, manufacturing and sales of laser-based systems used to cut brittle materials, such as glass, to produce perfectly cut edges. The Company holds the worldwide licence rights on the MLBA (Multiple Laser Beam Absorption) process.
The systems are primarily used for displays like plasma screens, windows, automotive parts and hollowware.
The Company was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from LZH, the laser institute of Hanover, Germany. H2B Photonics will continue as an independent company within the Rofin Group with its founders, Mr. Michael Haase, Mr. Oliver Haupt and Mr. Carsten Busching, remaining as managing directors, holding the other 60% of the Company's shares.
