2006 MAR 29 - (NewsRx.com) -- Planar Systems, Inc. (PLNR) announced it is partnering with Matrox Graphics to bring OpenGL and DirectX standards to Planar's Dome E2 and E3 displays for diagnostic imaging applications in the healthcare market.
The relationship will offer Planar's PACS vendors and OEMs the ability to provide state-of-the-art graphics capabilities with long-term technical support to hospital IT departments and radiologists using Dome displays.
Medical imaging customers are demanding graphics controllers for the latest in accelerated 3-D and volumetric rendering, 2-D color imaging and image fusion. The powerful Matrox Graphics display controller boards enable Planar to bring these capabilities to its Dome displays.
Dome displays with Matrox Graphics display controller boards come with Dome CXtra software, which monitors, controls and adjusts Dicom calibration of the displays to the users' desired luminance across all gray levels.
