SEOUL , South Korea , July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd.,a leading global designer, developer and manufacturer of image sensor solutions, mixed-signal and digital multimedia semiconductors, today, announced the launch of its one-chip, high resolution LCD driver solution for high end mobile phones, Digital Media Broadcasting (DMB) and mobile TV phones.

The LCD driver chip (MC2TA7501) product offering supports high resolutionat QVGA level (240x320) and is 30% smaller than existing MagnaChip QVGA chipsets. The product supports RGB interface from 6 bit to 18 bit and MPU interface at 68/80 modes, applicable for high end mobile phones and DMB devices. The LCD chip offers minimum power consumption and 260,000 colors.

Davis Mok , Vice President of Small DDI Marketing in MagnaChip's Display Solutions Division, commented, "As DMB broadcasting services move increasingly into the mainstream, and as mobile phones advance further, there is a growing demand for phones with QVGA LCD. MagnaChip developed this third generation one-chip solution with a dramatic size reduction by integrating two chip sets into one. As QVGA is forecasted to account for 20% of the total market next year, this one-chip solution is expected to be a key revenue generator for MagnaChip given its size benefit and cost competitiveness. Additionally, the one-chip LCD solution is MagnaChip's first product with EEPROM memory, which provides our customers with additional flexibility vs. current offerings."
