COSTA MESA, Calif., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Irvine Sensors Corporation (Nasdaq: IRSN; Boston Stock Exchange: ISC) announced today that it is now accepting orders for an expanded family of its proprietary Personal Miniature Thermal Viewers (PMTVs). The basic PMTV, available for over a year, is a 320 x 240 resolution, battery-operated thermal imager that provides crisp vision in total darkness or broad daylight based on the temperature of objects in the scene and which fits comfortably in the palm of a user's hand. Since its inception, this version of the PMTV has been the smallest, lowest power, and lightest thermal viewer on the market at this performance level. PMTV was the first thermal camera to provide "instant on" performance, eliminating tedious and potentially dangerous lengthy warm-ups.
Irvine Sensors is now offering PMTVs in ruggedized forms to survive impact, submersion in water, and to perform in the presence of intense electromagnetic interference, while retaining size, weight, and power advantages. In addition, an enhanced resolution PMTV is now available in a 640 x 480 format. Both the basic and enhanced resolution PMTVs are available with various lenses covering fields of view from 20 degrees to 40 degrees and featuring electronic zoom. All versions are also available with a laser pointer. The miniature thermal imaging cores of each of the PMTV products are also available for integration into application-specific customer products. To date, Irvine Sensors has shipped thermal imaging cores for use in weapon sights, periscopes, and night vision goggles.
The current PMTV family of products, owing to its high performance, is export controlled. Irvine Sensors plans to introduce lower performance versions to the broad consumer market in the future. Potential customers for the PMTVs are urged to contact Tom Schilling , General Manager, Product Development, at email@example.com for further informationregarding pricing and delivery.
