RESEARCH TRIANGLE, N.C., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cyberlux Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: CYBL), a developer and manufacturer of solid-state diodaltm lighting solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a U.S. patent for its innovative emergency lighting technology based on lightemitting diodes (LEDs).

The patent, Number 6,986,589 B2, is for "Apparatus and Methods forProviding an Emergency Lighting Augmentation System."

"As an emerging leader in the field of solid-state semiconductor lighting, we are proud that our excellent technology developers and engineering staffhave received this validation," observed Donald F. Evans, chief executiveofficer of Cyberlux. "We are continuing work to develop solutions for fail-safe, long-term LED lighting solutions during emergency situations, such as inthe aftermath of a hurricane when widespread power outages can last for days or even weeks."

Last year, Cyberlux installed an emergency lighting system based on thepatented technology in the Emergency Situation Room at Kings Park High Schoolin King Park , N.Y. The pilot program demonstrated the potential to use LED solid-state lighting to prepare schools and other shelters throughout the county to provide assistance to communities in the aftermath of natural disasters, terrorist attacks, electric grid failures and any other calamity that can cause widespread electricity blackouts.

The lighting system was based on Cyberlux's ReliaBright Emergency Lighting System powered by a remote, constant charge battery pack that provides up to 80 hours of light on a single battery charge. The system is activated by aproprietary sensor system that detects a loss of power in the building's electrical system.
