SID 2006 CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2006--
-- PenTile RGBW(TM) Technology Addresses Display Luminance & Power Requirements Sparked by Imminent Mobile Video Revolution; On Display in Booth #1810
At SID 2006, Clairvoyante will be exhibiting a variety of LTPS and a-Si displays enabled by PenTile RGBW(TM) technology, which is ideal for mobile video devices, digital cameras and mobile phones, where brightness and battery life are critical to performance. The displays demonstrate the ability of PenTile(R) technology to dramatically improve brightness and reduce power consumption for data-centric products. They will be on exhibit in Booth #1810 at the Society for Information Display International Symposium 2006 in San Francisco, June 6-8.
Mobile video and other data-centric applications will heavily impact the need for high-luminosity displays. At the same time, these displays must consume less power to enable sufficient device runtime and compensate for the increased power usage inherent to multimedia applications. PenTile RGBW technology can double display brightness or cut power consumption in half, making it an excellent solution for rendering the brightest, most-lifelike images and video, viewing maps, sharing photos, and accessing a variety of information on mobile devices.
PenTile technology -- which has been licensed by some of the leading display manufacturers in the world -- can benefit various display technologies including those driven with amorphous silicon (a-Si) and low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS). PenTile technology addresses the power/performance challenges inherent in designing today's mobile products. In addition, while most products designed to enhance feature sets result in increased costs, the performance enhancements enabled by PenTile RGBW technology reduce the number of LEDs required, the quantity of column drivers and the amount of memory needed while enhancing production yields.
Clairvoyante will announce its latest design win, and exhibit a number of small-screen PenTile VGA and qVGA a-Si and LTPS display modules. Other demonstrations that will be available in Booth #1810 include:
