Chroma Technology Corp, manufacturer of precision optical filters, is pleased to announce the launch of 89 North, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Located in Burlington, Vermont, 89 North will develop innovative products for the life science imaging market. The initial focus will be on high-power light sources for fluorescence imaging, and they will immediately take over sales and support for the Photofluor II, Chroma's metal halide-based fluorescence light source.
"We've long wanted to diversify Chroma and our product line," says Paul Millman, Chroma's President. "Diversification is essential to insure Chroma's future and will enable us to bring additional products and services into the biomedical imaging market.”
"We are excited to be a part of the Chroma family," says 89 North General Manager Chris Baumann. "We have already started the development of the next generation fluorescence light source. Stay tuned for exciting things to come."
