Security industry recognizes Bioscrypt VisionAccess 3D Face Reader
TORONTO, May 30 /CNW/ - Bioscrypt Inc. (TSX: BYT), a leading provider of enterprise access control technology, and ADI-GARDINER, a leading supplier of security products, solutions and services, today announced that ADI-GARDINER won the Safety & Security Amsterdam 2007 Award in the Product category for Bioscrypt's VisionAccess 3D Face Reader.
The jury gave ADI-GARDINER the award for Bioscrypt's VisionAccess 3D Face Reader in recognition of the important role that 3D facial scans will play in the future of access control. VisionAccess is already being used by banks, governments, airports and corporations to secure highly sensitive areas and protect critical information from unauthorized access.
Bioscrypt's VisionAccess 3D Face Reader is the only structured light 3D face reader designed for access control on the market. It uses a person's facial structure to collect over 40,000 data points, making it more robust and accurate than 2D scans. The use of structured light makes Bioscrypt 3D face technology less sensitive to background illumination, and the use of 3D surface data makes the system less sensitive to the orientation or pose of the individual. The reader can verify or identify people in under a second.
The Bioscrypt VisionAccess 3D Face Reader can be used for single-factor authentication for 1 to N identification or combined with contactless smart cards for 1 to 1 dual-factor verification. The physical access control 3D face reader can also be tied into logical access systems, giving companies better auditing capabilities.
"Biometrics are the future of access control. ADI-GARDINER is constantly scanning the security market for new products and technologies. We are very impressed with the VisionAccess 3D Face Reader from Bioscrypt. Because of its high transit speed and its easy-to-use interface, it takes the use of biometrics in practice to a completely new level," said Stefan van der Velden, Business Product Manager Access Control & Integrated Systems for ADI-GARDINER.
