Kortrijk, Belgium, 20 May 2009 - Medical imaging specialist Barco continues to reap success with its latest 6 MegaPixel diagnostic color display system. Today, the company announced it has received an order from Dell AB, Upplands Vaesby, Sweden, to supply Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display systems to the University Hospital of Danderyd in Sweden. The installation of the innovative PACS display systems permits radiologists to read both color and grayscale studies on a single multi-modality PACS display system.
The University Hospital of Danderyd has been a Barco display customer for many years. Within the scope of a large-scale PACS replacement project, the hospital recently investigated opportunities to further optimize the flexibility of its radiology display setup. By choosing for the Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP DL, the radiology staff now benefits from an extremely flexible visualization solution, which can be used either as one 30-inch workspace with a resolution of 6 million pixels, or as two seamless 3 MegaPixel display heads. Thanks to the latest IPS-Pro LCD panel and a unique Diagnostic Luminance backlight technology, the system is capable of presenting images with an exceptional brightness and contrast.
"During evaluation, we were very impressed by the image quality of the Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display system," states Dr. Anthony Jilert, a Senior Radiologist at the University Hospital of Danderyd. "Thanks to its superb brightness and contrast, the display system gives a new meaning to versatile, multi-modality PACS visualization. It enables us to comfortably and reliably read CT, MR, CR and DR images, combined with color-augmented modalities, on the same diagnostic screen. Our workflow-interrupting journeys from the PACS workstation to a separate modality acquisition workstation for color enhanced images belong to the past," Dr. Jilert continues.
The new display solution has been supplied through Barco's partner Dell AB. Peter Bergman, Account Executive, Public Sector at Dell AB, explains their choice: "Barco's display solutions are known industry-wide for their diagnostic precision, reliability and durability. These characteristics, along with the unique bezel-free design and multi-modality capabilities, made the new Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display system the preferred solution for Danderyd's imaging needs today and tomorrow."
The University Hospital of Danderyd is a 536-bed facility located to the north of Stockholm, which focuses primarily on internal medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, rehabilitation medicine, surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology. Every year, the hospital performs circa 92,400 X-ray examinations and 17,200 mammography screenings.
