It all comes back to what Andy Falconer of V Cubed says. "The biggest mistake people make is underestimating the task. Some are very simple, but if you get it wrong you compromise the application. Proper illumination highlights what you want and makes it work for you."
It's not too early to start thinking about submissions for Advanced Imaging's annual Solutions of the Year issue in January.
The issue will feature profiles of imaging-driven projects and solutions meriting industry attention for the effectiveness, the challenges overcome or the exceptional results attained. Entrants will be judged in the following categories:
Microscopy; Machine Vision; Visualization; Military; Consumer & Commercial Applications; Software; Networked Solutions; Defense, Security & Law Enforcement; Satellite Imaging; Medical; and Entertainment & Broadcast.
Submissions must identify the challenge, outline the solution, list the tools used to achieve the solution and describe the difference that the solution made. Just to give you an idea, here are the titles of last year's winning entries. As you can see, a couple of categories had multiple winners and they covered a wide range of applications.
