The Challenge:
White Sands Missile Range supports a variety of military testing initiatives which exact precision, high speed, high resolution image data. Many programs mandate long capture times for weapons system performance to be characterized adequately. Because of recording limitations, logistical and operational constraints associated with older infrared imagers, some requirements could not be satisfied.
The Solution:
A turnkey approach to data acquisition proved to be an ideal, cost-effective, upgrade path for large-format, mid-wave infrared imaging systems at White Sands Missile Range. By retrofitting existing cameras with FLIR Systems’ Digital Transfer System and High Speed Data Recorder, the New Mexico Technology Group realized a 150-fold increase over previous recording limits.
FLIR Systems’ RTools software afforded reliable playback, calibration and post-processing of infrared imagery via an intuitive graphical user-interface as well as the ability to stream imagery over two data links, simultaneously.
