Point Grey Research® Inc. announced the launch of the Firefly® MV. The Firefly MV is a small, inexpensive and easy-to-use IEEE-1394 digital camera designed for machine vision applications. The Firefly MV is based on 1/3 inch CMOS sensors with global shutter and delivers high quality 640 x 480 images at 60 FPS. Features of the Firefly MV include a 10-bit digitizer, auto/manual gain and exposure controls, high sensitivity in the near-IR, 2x2 binning for even faster frame rates and better signal-to-noise ratios and in field firmware upgrades. All Point Grey Research Imaging Products also include the FlyCapture® SDK for image acquisition and camera control. The Firefly MV will be available in monochrome and color models in July 2006.
