Point Grey Research Inc. (Vancouver, BC, Canada), announces the addition of two new models to its line of popular Grasshopper IEEE-1394b (FireWire) 800Mbit/s digital cameras. The new models are based on the addition of monochrome and color Kodak KAI-0340 640x480 1/3-inch CCDs to the current line of Sony progressive scan CCD image sensors available in the Grasshopper. Offering 200 frame-per-second full-resolution VGA readout, low-noise, high quantum efficiency, and sensitive 7.4um square pixels, the new Grasshopper models are ideal for demanding imaging applications in machine vision, astronomy and life sciences, high speed test and measurement, industrial inspection, and motion detection. The Grasshopper camera line now offers a total of 11 different monochrome and color models that are designed to address a wide variety of customer demands for high resolution, high frame rate, and/or high sensitivity. Both monochrome and color models of the Kodak KAI-0340 CCD are available, and like other members of the Grasshopper family, are housed in a lightweight and compact 44x29x57.5mm enclosure with dual IEEE-1394b ports, general purpose I/O connector, and industry standard C-mount lens holder. www.ptgrey.com
