Leica MM AF Imaging Systems Provide Researchers with A More Comprehensive Range of Solutions for Wide-field Imaging in Life SCIE
Leica Microsystems (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and MDS Analytical Technologies announce the launch of Leica MM AF imaging systems, a product line that combines Leica's industry-leading microscopy and MDS Analytical Technologies' latest MetaMorph software, to provide researchers with a more comprehensive range of solutions for wide-field imaging in life sciences research. The Leica MM AF imaging systems combine Leica's strengths in high-tech microscopy and imaging with the industry-leading breadth of applications and analysis of MetaMorph software. The new product line offers tightly integrated systems based on the excellent ease-of-use and optical performance of the Leica microscope range, giving researchers an efficient platform for many types of imaging experiments. One Stop Systems' PCI Express x16 Gen 2 Cable Adapter Delivers Data Transfers up to 80 Gb/s
One Stop Systems (Escondido, Calif.) introduces its PCI Express (PCIe) x16 Gen 2 host cable adapter, enabling high-speed expansion over a PCIe cable from a host system at 80Gb/s to a PCIe downstream device or expansion chassis. The PCIe x16 cable adapter provides greater bandwidth for applicationsdemanding high-speed throughput such as video, imaging and audio devices and requires no additional software or drivers to operate. The PCIe x16 Gen 2 host cable adapter is based on redriver technology. No switches are involved, thus there are no latency obstacles to throughput. The half-card form factor makes it easy to install in any space-constrained slot. It can be fitted with standard height or half height slot brackets. The PCIe x16 cable connector on the slot bracket and the PCIe x16 edge connector are routed directly to the Pericom 5804 redriver chip. In host mode, the add-in card will accept a clock as an input. In target mode, the add-in card will drive a clock.

Northwire Boosts E-commerce Product Efferings with Endurance Cable Assemblies
Northwire, Inc. (Osceola, Wis.) has added two products from its Endurance line of cable assemblies for vision system applications to NorthwireDirect, its e-commerce Web site for ordering off-the-shelf, factory-direct cable, cable assemblies and connectors. The new products available on NorthwireDirect are extended length/extended life Endurance MVC-800 FireWire IEEE 1394, suitable for up to seven meters (23 feet) and Endurance GEV-1000 GigE Cable Assemblies. All Endurance cables are tested for high-flex life and have exceeded 10 million cycles on Northwire's Standardized Flex Test Protocol for tick-tock bending and rolling/torsion flex. Many have exceeded 20 million test cycles. Northwire introduced NorthwireDirect in spring 2008 as a convenience for end users, contractors and distributors who want high-grade electrical cable quickly from the secure Web site of a reputable company. The Endurance MVC-800 FireWire assemblies included are 1394a and 1394b. Northwire's standard FireWire cable is extended length, extended life and is suitable for use up to 7 meters 1394b 800 MBPS. These rough-service, industrial-strength cables meet or exceed IEEE standards, and are UL recognized and CSA approved. They have surpassed 11 million flex cycles in the rigorous Northwire Standardized Flex Test Protocol for tick-tock bending and rolling/torsion flex. The Endurance GEV-1000 GigE assembly is designed and manufactured especially for industrial-duty GigE vision systems. The cable meets AIA standards for GigE Vision cable assemblies. GEV-1000 is built for flexing applications and has passed 12 million flex cycles in Northwire's Standardized Flex Test Protocol for tick-tock bending. This cable features dual-shield construction, with a 100 percent foil and 65 percent tinned copper braid shield, and optional screw-lock vertical and horizontal connectors. Northwire cables use the company's EnduroFLEX I TPE elastomer jacketing material, making them ideal for rugged industrial and outdoor applications that require abrasion resistance, flame retardance, high- and low-temperature stability, sunlight/UV resistance, water resistance, and weld-flash resistance. All Northwire cable is certified as RoHS compliant.
