Hamamatsu Corporation's S8664-1010 silicon APD (avalanche photodiode) provides a large, 10 mm x 10 mm active area and several other benefits that make it ideal for design into analytical instruments for low-light-level measurement. Among these benefits are high sensitivity in the visible spectrum, high gain, low noise and low capacitance. The detector's spectral response range is from 320 nm to 1000 nm, with its peak wavelength at 600 nm. At 600nm, quantum efficiency is approximately 85% and gain is 50.
