HALCON 8.0 In Summer 2007

Newest Version Will Break New Ground in Functionality for Industrial Use and Usability

After two years, MVTec Software GmbH will launch the new version of its software library-HALCON 8.0. It will break new ground in functionality for industrial use and usability. HALCON 8.0 will be available in June 2007. All HALCON users will see that challenging machine vision will be faster than ever and easier to develop. HALCON 8.0 will provide more than one hundred new operators. Furthermore, for typical applications the speed of the entire software library was enhanced by 25%, single operators by up to 500%. Moreover, HALCON's unique IDE (integrated development environment) for machine vision, HDevelop and HDevEngine, now provides assistants to simplify the generation of frequently used operator sequences.

Numerous features in HALCON 8.0 will bring new possibilities for machine vision. Here are only a few examples:

  • "Third Generation Matching" for 3D objects
  • Shape-based matching in color images (multi-channel images)
  • New operators for dramatic OCR advancement
  • HALCON/.NET interface; for increased performance and more efficient programming as with the COM interface, in Mono also for Linux.
