With the advent of the GigE Vision™ standard, the camera market is poised for significant change. Interfaces like FireWire, USB 2.0 and Camera Link suffer from limited cable length, limited data rate and the lack of interface standardization. Utilizing GigE Vision, Prosilica’s GE-Series cameras resolve these limitations through a standards-based means of camera control and reliable data transport at full gigabit speeds over standard network cable up to 100 meters long.
Some camera companies created Gigabit Ethernet cameras using third-party hardware and software modules, thereby limiting the support they can offer. The GE-Series GigE Vision-compliant cameras work “plug-and-play” with standard network hardware and low-cost Cat5e cabling.
