Active Silicon develops frame grabbers and complete vision systems. The core software and hardware technologies developed in-house have been proven in applications throughout manufacturing, scientific research, medical imaging, remote visual monitoring and security.
A recent application in the semiconductor industry prompted the development of some next-generation digital frame grabbers, incorporating Power over Camera Link (PoCL).
The customer required multiple high-speed digital cameras to be deployed in a space-constrained environment. The emerging standard for PoCL not only provided a more elegant solution by removing the need for a separate power cable, but also permitted neater packaging through the use of mini-Camera Link connectors. This provided key benefits over traditional Camera Link connectivity and its larger connectors and cables, which simply would not fit in this application.
The modular design philosophy at the core of Active Silicon image acquisition technology allows rapid development of new products with emerging standards. This is complemented by the flexibility of a specialist team with a wide range of software and hardware skills. Active Silicon analog and digital frame grabbers support Windows, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, Mac OS X and DOS … and are available in most formats such as PCI, PCI Express, CompactPCI, PC/104-Plus and PMC.
