Multifunction LED Drivers Simplify Lighting Circuit Design by Combining Backlight, Flash and LDOs into Single Chip

On the AAT2846, current on the two flash outputs can be programmed to anyof 16 settings up to 300 mA for each (600 mA total) via an external resistor. For uniform power dissipation, channel-to-channel flash current matching is4%.

Both devices integrate two high-performance, low-noise LDOs. Each LDO usesits own individual enable input and supplies up to 200 mA output current.Intended to supply the basic power requirements of functions such as a housekeeping controller or a camera module, the output voltage of each LDO is programmable from 1.2V to 5V via a resistor divider. By offering two separatecontrols for the LDOs, the AAT2846 and AAT2856 give the system designer addedflexibility when sequencing multiple external power supplies.

The AAT2846 and AAT2856 also feature integrated short-circuit and over-temperature protection. Soft start circuitry automatically prevents excessiveinrush current at start up and mode transitions.

Price and availability

The AAT2846 is qualified across the -40 C to +85 C temperature range andcomes in a Pb-free, 28-lead, TQFN44 package. It sells for $1.42 in 10Kquantities. The AAT2856 sells for $1.14 in 10K quantities.
