In 2005, Coverity was selected by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate to analyze popular open source packages for security vulnerabilities. The three-year contract, known as the "Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation Open Source Hardening Project," calls for Coverityto conduct periodic scans of open source software used in critical deployments and provide the results to the development teams. The results of their initial scan can be found online at http://scan.coverity.com/.
