In the over-37-inch (including) large-sized TV segment, Panasonic Taiwan focuses on PDP models. In the fourth quarter of last year, PCST introduced its first PDP TV model in the local market and immediately won about a 10% market share. In the second half this year, PCST plans to continuously roll out 37-, 42-, and 50-inch high-definition (HD) PDP TV models, with a goal of gaining a 30% market share with a more comprehensive product line
Industry sources estimated that total annual PDP TV sales currently are about 100,000 units in Taiwan
Chen claimed Panasonic's sales in Taiwan are expected to maintain a two-digit growth level this year. Though the domestic PDP-TV market is filled with about 30 rivals, Chen is still very confident that Panasonic's PDP TVs have the quality and leading technical level to surpass competitors
Chen is also chairman of Panasonic Systems Sales Taiwan Co., Ltd., which recently began pushing some new multi-function printer (MFP) models. Last year, Panasonic-branded office machines grabbed about a 15% share in the local market, and this year the brand aims to snare a 20% share.
