BELMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2006--Jameco Electronics has expanded their line of LEDs by adding MCD Electronics Piranah Super Flux LEDs. These "Super Flux LEDs" have unique electrical and optical properties allowing the devices to operate at a higher current rating with greater heat dissipation, making them well suited for use in automotive lighting, exterior lighting, electronic signs, signals and the specialty lighting industry.
The Piranha package has proven to be stable and meets the SAE/ECE/JIS automotive color requirements. Jameco offers both 40 degree & 70 degree viewing angles to fit most standard and non-standard applications, all in the most popular colors: blue, white, green, amber and red.
"With output intensities up to 7,500 mcd, these devices will be seen wherever you put them," says Gil Orozco, Director of Purchasing. "With their optical package design and high-current capabilities, designers can reduce the number of LEDs required and provide a more uniform illuminated appearance."
Super Flux LEDs are ideal for retrofit applications where replacement of existing incandescent light bulbs is desired. Major benefits include more uniform illumination, 90% reduction in power consumption and 10 times longer life.
