EPSR, Ethernet Protected Switch Ring, is a state-of-the-art industry standard ring technology for building protected transport of next-generation networks. EPSR minimizes the impact of failures by diverting traffic around the failure point in under 50-ms, providing the Quality of Experience (QoE) IP Triple Play subscribers expect and demand from their service providers. Combined with 10G, the solution delivers an unprecedented highly reliable and scalable transport architecture over Ethernet technology for the aggregation of revenue-generating interactive entertainment services.

Any Allied Telesyn iMAP can accommodate 10G by simply installing a CFC56 (Central Fabric Controller with a 56Gbps fabric) and an XE1 10GbE WAN interface module. Both common control products can be deployed in either simplex or redundant fashion. When used with the GE8 8-port Gigabit Ethernet service module, the CFC56 provides wirespeed 10G backplane connectivity for non-blocking Gigabit Fiber-to-the-business applications. Deployed in redundant fashion, the CFC56 and GE8 can support up to 8 EPSR edge aggregation networks while simultaneously providing a 10G network uplink via the XE1 WAN module.

The CFC56 and XE1 are available for use in the iMAP 9700 and 9400 systems. The CFC56 seamlessly supports the same advanced video-optimization features including QoS, scaleable IP Multicasting, and sophisticated network security found on existing iMAP products. Using standards based pluggable optic modules, the XE1 provides 10G uplink network connectivity.

Yim adds, "Leveraging our core competencies in IP and Ethernet technologies, we continue to evolve our iMAP product line so service providers can rely on Allied Telesyn to introduce new features that maximize their investment in our products and their networks. Our development of 10G is clear evidence of the strength and flexibility of the iMAP and its embedded support for bandwidth intensive IP Triple Play networks."
